OK, that turned into a three-week break rather than a fortnight. But with Small back at nursery school this week, and me back at work, it's all been rather busy.
This is going to be more of a round-up post than a proper article, so if that's not your thing, look away now.
The most important thing to have happened while I was gone was the release of the Alliance of Worldbuilders charity anthology. The Alliance are a group of SFF writers who first met on the writing site Authonomy. We've been planning to release an anthology for a long time - and now, finally, here it is! A World of Their Own is available to buy in paperback and ebook formats, with all profits going to the World Literacy Foundation. The anthology is dedicated to a very special member of the Alliance, Lindsey J. Parsons, who we sadly lost in January 2014. If you'd like to get a taste of what's inside, you can read my included flash fiction piece Worldbuilders, Inc here.
If you're in the US and don't have your copy of Darkhaven yet, it's on sale for 99 cents until tomorrow. (In fact, it got inside the top 300 fantasy books on Amazon earlier today, which may not seem like much, but was a big deal to me.)
In the meantime, its sequel Goldenfire has started to appear in various places online. No cover yet, but there's a blurb if you're curious (though spoiler alert: it gives away a couple of things about the outcome of Darkhaven!)
For the rest of the year, I'll be cutting back on Barren Island Books interviews. I'll still interview any authors who approach me, but I won't seek out new victims. Instead, I'm going to use some of my Thursday slots for a review series. So watch this space!
